Having considered the results and conclusions of the Questionnaire, Topic Workshops and the feedback on the Masterplan Concepts, the Daedalus Project Team has produced a Visionary Framework.

This Framework sets out SEEDA’s long term aspirations for the reuse and redevelopment of the Daedalus and demonstrates the important role that the site can play in securing growth within the local and regional economy.

Daedalus Exhibition

The Daedalus Exhibition was held between 2pm – 8.30pm on Friday 5 and between 9.30am - 2pm on Saturday 6 December 2008 at the Lee Methodist Church Hall.  This consisted of a display which set out the key principles of Visionary Framework.  Nearly 800 people attended over the two days to find out more about the emerging development proposals.

Those who attended had the opportunity to talk with members of the Project Team as well as being invited to complete Comment Forms.  These were aimed at identifying what attendees though the strengths, weaknesses and areas of concern are about the content of the Framework as well as the opportunities for the site.  A presentation setting out the results and conclusions of the comments received will be available on the website shortly.

In addition to the display panels, people had the opportunity to view an exciting computer simulated model. This allowed attendees see what development within the Waterfront site might look like as well as allowing them to record comments in relation to specific parts of the site.

Many thanks to all those who attended the event.

Static Displays

For those not able to attend the Exhibition or for family and friends that do not have access to the internet, a summary of the exhibition panels were available to view on static displays at six locations in the local area until the end of January 2009.  The displays could be found at Lee-on-the-Solent library, Stubbington library, Fareham library, Gosport Discovery Centre as well as at both Fareham and Gosport Council Offices.  Full details about the Framework are also available on the website.

Next Steps?

Following the event, the Project Team asked a number of other stakeholders including the local councils to give their views on the framework.  On the basis of all the comments received, in early 2009, the Team submitted the Framework to the Local Authorities (LA's) for review.  They each considered this and have since given their support to the Framework subject to the resolution of specific issues as set out in the documents below.

Fareham Borough Council - Executive Agenda 9 March 2009 (Item 11)

Fareham Borough Council - Executive Minutes 9 March 2009 (No 7(12))

Gosport Borough Council - Policy and Organisation Agenda 11 March 2009 (Item 9)

Gosport Borough Council - Policy and Organisation Minutes 11 March 2009 (No 73)

Hampshire County Council - Decision Report 24 March 2009

The Project Team is now working with the LA's to produce planning policy guidance which sets out in more detail how the site should be developed.  Further details about how this work is progressing will be available on the website in due course.
