This phase has now been completed. Please visit the Masterplan Concepts page for information on the next stage of the project
In accordance with the Consultation Strategy, the aim of this stage of consultation is to explore in more depth, the results of the questionnaire, which was sent out to 20,000 local residents during May 2007.

The two main activities for this stage of the consultation - Topic Workshops and the Daedalus Drop In – were based around these five themes.
Topic Workshops
Topic Workshops were held throughout July 2007, with two workshops held for each of the five topics. Attendees included local residents, members of local community groups, representatives from the local authorities as well as a wide range of other agencies and organisations including the Environment Agency, Hampshire Economic Partnership and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.
Each workshop opened with a short presentation from a member of the Daedalus project team, which focussed primarily on the results of the questionnaire. This was then followed by a round the table discussion and debate around the topic and how it relates to emerging proposals for the Daedalus site. An interactive mapping facility was available at the workshop to ensure that everyone’s comments and ideas were recorded.
The workshops were a great success and were very well attended. They provided the Project Team with a fantastic opportunity to learn more about local issues and allowed people to talk through their ideas for how they would like to see the site developed.
Drop In Event
A Daedalus Drop In Event was held from 1pm – 8pm on Monday 30 July at Lee Methodist Church Hall. The event was a great success, with around 500 people dropping in.
The aim of the event was to give people an opportunity to explain the reasoning behind their answers to the questionnaire, to meet the project team and ask questions as well as to discuss their ideas for the site.
There was a display board for each of the five topics as well as a stand providing information about what SEEDA is and what it seeks to achieve.
An innovative interactive mapping facility was available at the event. This enabled people to digitally record their comments and suggestions and it also provided a useful visual resource for people to learn more about the site.
Many thanks to all of you that attended the event.
Next Steps?
A Phase 2 Consultation Report which details all the results and conclusions has been written. A summary of the report is also available. Both of these reports have been shared with the Project Team including the masterplanners who will consider these when developing options showing how the site might be developed.
We have also made the interactive mapping facility available on this website. This facility will allow you to input any comments, ideas and suggestions you have about the project as it evolves – it’s easy to use and full instructions are available if you follow the link on the homepage. The comments will continue to be monitored and fed back to the project team.
We hope to have some masterplan options available to share in Autumn 2007 – further details will be available on the website in due course.
